The states of Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia along with the District of Columbia are offering tax holidays for back-to-school shopping on various days this month and next, according to a report by CCH. During these “tax holidays,” state sales tax is suspended on purchases of back-to-school items. The dates and applicable items vary in each state. Some states limit the exemption to clothes and shoes, but others–such as Louisiana and Vermont–include a wide range of personal items. For details, read the full article on webcpa.com.
